A board with a Celeron 700 is too old to support USB 2.0, a hardware capability which cannot be upgraded thru software. If you need USB 2.0, you need to buy hardware which supports USB 2.0, with drivers, of course.. Finally, support for USB keyboards is built into XP. No special drivers needed.

There are NO USB drivers for any Epson printer as yet. You can install it as USB but the Status Monitor won't function. I've had to set my ESC900 up as parallel. Errm... no. They were merely connected to a USB 1 card. USB 1 is too slow to use with a hard drive. USB 2 provides adequate response. I have never had any problems with speed on USB 1 drives. They mount quickly, and files go back and forth at a reasonable rate. About the speed of a 10mb ethernet, Errm... no.

When I attach a USB device for the first time, a message appears that essentially says the hardware is ready to be used. The next time that same device is attached in the same USB port (and the default Windows sound scheme is active), it works a little differently. There is a two-tone sound but no text message.

No how, no way can 98FE support USB2 ports at USB2 speeds. At least, that's the party line. I've seen a case or two where it *says* Win98 (not SE), but a card works at USB2 speeds and doesn't complain--I suspect an OEM pre-release version of SE, or some other tweak, was actually in place.
