uh oh - after 4 -> 4.2 cvsup, no keyboard. any ideas?
No way is that "high speed". For some reason, your connection to the USB hard drive had dropped down to "full speed" (12 Mbps), ie it is acting like a USB 1.1 connection. A beige G3 might not have stellar CPU performance, but I'd expect a proper USB 2 high speed connection to get transfer rates at least ten times

How can I return my no-USB defective motherboard? any suggestions?
Have checked FIC/VIA/MS, but don't find anything. Seem to have all in place, and after the USB, the sound never came back. Pulled the card, booted, shutdown, replaced. Nuthin'. Anything left to try? Veteran of software loads, not really looking forward to it, let alone facing no USB in the future vs. no sound.

USB Printer on Laptop with no USB?
They could easily have updated W95 to handle USB, but left that half baked instead. (also, you can't get decent USB support in anything but W98. and, you can't even get that printer to go under DOS because there is no USB support at all under DOS - in case you're still using WP 5.1 like me, or need it for

Furthermore, Apple's not providing a USB driver, but they *are* providing USB drivers for the apple keyboard and mouse. Which strikes me as a bit weird -- most likely Apple has written low-level USB drivers, but no high-level support drivers except for their keyboard and mouse; the term "hacked up" is worrisome.

I just installed a new printer that uses USB connection. My computer has USB ports, and they are working ok, but I am running on WIN 98 and under the "Settings" "Details" of the printer SetUp, there is no USB Port selection. When I built the system to run windows 98 (and Linux) I had no USB devices, and never tried it out. I just purchased a USB based mouse, and when I plug it in, there is no power to it (it's optical, and when it is in the PS/2 slot, the red light is always on--no red light when plugged into USB).

That is USB 1.1, and its faster 12Mb/s is called "High Speed" or "High Rate". 'hi-speed' is 480 mbit with usb 2. the 12 mbit speed is 'full speed' and is in both usb 1.1 and usb 2.
