USB card detected, yet no USB
When I insert a usb thumb drive into a slot, I don't see the usual console messages, and there's no /dev/da?, so I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe you can help with that? I'm not very familiar with how the usb system works, so I'm not sure where to look to find the problem. There's no /dev/umass either.

after this kernel modifications when the system boots with no USB device plugged in there is no response at the moment of plug in a device. One problem -- NO USB Controller Hub in device manager! I don't have anything plugged into the USB ports right now, but I want to hook up a camera. I've applied the MS USB patch about three times, with no apparent effect. The only confusing part about the install was the USB cable -- a "^" symbol on the cable plug

Device Manager says the USB fdd is working but it is not. The fdd was made by Mitsui as D353FUE and Mitsui says it should use the Microsoft driver provided in Windows XP. I downloaded a driver from Windows XP, but when I unzipped it and installed it there was no setup or install file shown.

All of my USB ports do not detect anything plugged into them except 1. 1 USB plug. NOTHING in the bios works, no suggestions from scores of helpful folks here works, I am at my wits end. I even flashed the bios, etc. These USB ports never worked since I bought the board, what should I do?

Device manager isn't showing any USB devices at all. No host controller, no hub, nada. The board has on-board USB 2.0 and I've loaded the lastest drivers for it. Well, thanks to Handspring that's a big, fat NO WAY! I built my PC myself (a year ago, it's a Celeron 433), it has a very nice ASUS motherboard with USB ports, I installed Windows 95 OSR 2.5, got the USB drivers set up, and everything is hunky-dory, except that I had no USB peripherals at the time.

I have the updated bios installed that I received from John, and the dragon + with a 1700+ is much more stable now, but when I enable the usb in the bios it will only stay for about one out of ten reboots. I have loaded the optimize defalts. Even moved the sys clock to 100 with no change.

In that board iam using ISP 1562 philips PCI based usb controller. The problem iam facing is in Linux level the usb ports are detecting only ehci high speed devices(flash mem stick) But it is not detecting low speed devices(mouse,keyboard) and reporting Unlink no irq..Controller probably using wrong irq.

Errm... no. I attached a USB drive to my beige. After the first half hour, I returned the drive. 'Intolerably slow' is much milder than the way I'd put its performance. FireWire drives and SCSI I and II drives are _much_ faster. Orders of magnitude faster. Actually usable. You haven't actually tried this, have you?
