If you disable the USB in the BIOS, the drivers report they have found no USB controller during the CONFIG.SYS run. Of course that leads to no USB in the HARDWARE Makes no diffrence. This is an older DFI K6BV3 + /66 motherboard with a 2000 vintage BIOS. Though I didn't/don't need to try the USB HP 2100 on it,

Laptop with no USB ports. How do I upload my pictures?
Unfortunately there was no USB cable with it (and I dont think it's meant to have one with it as it's not in the list of accessories in the instruction booklet) but I would've thought every printer came with everything you needed to get started! It should have said on the site that no cable was included so I

Am I sol if I don't have a USB port trying to synch a Sony Palm Clie, or is there a way to get around that? With my limited knowledge of the Clie, I would say that you are in a spot of bother. AFAIK there is no serial alternative for the Clie, and although there are converters, I think these are serial -> USB,

I've seen Ben Pope's posts on USB, but his remarks helped me. Anyone have some suggestions on how to get USB working as ASUS said it should be? He should have USB 2 on this Mother of a board. It would probably be easier to connect it to the front port header, but you would lose one port. That's lose as in it's now occupied. It's still there but no longer available. You'd lose 1 port anyway, so connect it to the rear, using a hacked USB cable. HTH. Chris Pollard.

USB on DS10/RELENG_4 is a no-go?
USB 1 drives took five minutes to mount, and 30 seconds or more, usually more, to open folders with more than a half-dozen items. USB 1 drives were simply unusable. They were too slow. SCSI and FireWire drives not only were usable on the beige, but were (and still are) used. Obviously you had a USB problem.

USB is enabled in BIOS. I've been going over those danged BIOS settings with a fine-toothed comb, using the suggestions in both Paul's most excellent FAQ for the KT7 series mobos and USBMAN's suggestions. No dice. No USB.
